Meet a few of the incredible individuals that benefit from our services

Freedom Waters Foundation is supported by your contributions.  Your involvement is critical to our work of improving the lives of individuals with special needs and veterans by providing therapeutic marine related experiences on the waters of South Florida.

Meet a few of the incredible individuals that benefit from our services

Josh Selmyer, 42 year old attorney, paralyzed from a diving accident in 1997 who has been apprehensive of being in or around water since his injury.

He came to observe the adaptive sailing program and walked away sensing “this was much more than a boat ride for these kids and their families…it was time away from their day to day challenges, enjoying life and each other.”

Josh since has been on two boat outings with FWF and has become a volunteer.  And, the lasting effect for him is that he is no longer fearful of the water and is enjoying his time out on the water.
Annabelle Osborne, 11 years old, diagnosed with autism, high anxiety and a vascular disease, went fishing for the first time, with her mother and father with one of FWF’s regular boat owner’s, John Luzi.
She wants to be a marine biologist and this was a trip of a lifetime for her.  Joanna Osborne, her mother wrote in after the trip,  “Thank you for arranging the trip! My daughter had such a wonderful time and smiled constantly.
This was such a rare opportunity for her, thank you!  Your organization is such a blessing and your captain and crew were positively wonderful!

And the 132 Veterans and their spouses who joined us aboard the Naples Princess on Nov. 6, 2017.

The cruise was donated to FWF by the Naples Princess for the FWF Veterans Meet and Greet,  boat outing that FWF and the Naples Princess, as community partners, provide twice a year.

Veterans and their spouses enjoy the relaxing cruise of camaraderie and appreciation and inevitably 99 % of those aboard leave smiling and with such gratitude for being offered this opportunity of enjoyment and feeling appreciated, sharing in the freedom for which they have served.

Feeling free, loved and appreciated is what Freedom Waters Foundation is all about whether on land or sea and it is because of all of you and our community partners that we are able to serve so many.
In 2016, FWF provided over 2400 on the water experiences with just two full time employees and over 200 volunteers, from boat owners, captains to host and hostesses aboard the vessels and the many behind the scenes helping with fundraising and office work too.

May abundance be yours and as you consider how and where you would like to give your extra blessings for the holidays or for that tax deduction for the year end, please remember those like Josh, Annabelle and all the others that we serve.  Together, we Make it Happen!

Thank you!

Happy Holidays! – May your kindness and be returned to you in the most positive ways.

Many good wishes,
