Currently, Betsy is focusing on the development of United States Paralympic Team athletes for three sailing events in preparation for the 2016 Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and beyond. Throughout her career Betsy has inspired and motivated many, who once believed they could never get in a boat, to go way beyond their dreams and soar to new heights and abilities. She has helped to build bridges between those with disabilities and those who are able bodied, building a greater sense of community and understanding. Her celebrated career and dedication to disabled sailing embodies the mission of Freedom Waters Foundation to improve lives with boating opportunities. Freedom Waters Foundation’s mission is: To improve the lives of individuals with special needs and veterans by providing therapeutic marine related experiences on the waters of south Florida. This is the inaugural gala event for Freedom Waters Foundation in the Naples area, since its inception in 2006.
