Weller Days
Yacht outings for Children with cancer and others
Weller Days were originally created to provide yacht outings for children with cancer and their families. They began in October of 2004 and are now serving numerous children with special needs and their families, in three South Florida counties: Collier, Palm Beach and Broward.
"Weller Days" have been named in honor of John Weller, co-founder of Freedom Waters Foundation, Yacht Broker for over 30 years and a person who has survived cancer three times.
While undergoing his first set of cancer treatments, John spoke to Debra, the other Founder of the Freedom Waters Foundation and stated in his scratchy, whispered voice (a result of the treatments), “When I get back, we’re taking kids with cancer out on yachts.” And, we have ever since!
Although, John did not want any special recognition, Debra decided to name these special outings --- “Weller Days”, anyway! John currently serves as a FWF Advisory Board Member.
Private yacht owners donate their vessels, time, and crew for a three-hour lunch tour of the waters. Most outings, the owners come along and new enriching relationships are often made between them and the participants.

Children and their families are invited from local hospitals and other social service agencies. To inquire about participating, please click here!
Weller Days is growing nationally, along with the other FWF programs.
The yachting community has been generously supportive in their participation of Weller Days. We could not do it without them! They "Make it Happen!"
On behalf of all the children, their family members and the FWF staff and Board, we thank you!
